So, we're getting to the uncomfortable, aka painful, stages of this pregnancy thing. Besides the constant waking up to pee, now I'm having wicked heartburn almost daily, and my lower back hurts. Pretty much all the time. It's bad enough when you are a healthy weight to start with, but when you are overweight and then gain some baby weight, it's even worse. Believe me. I woke up several times last night and had to reposition several times due to backache - into one of my last two even remotely comfortable sleeping positions (one side or the other). I remember all of this from my last two times, and I realize it's temporary, thank the Lord. I'm just hoping that I'm not so exhausted when I eventually do go into labor that I don't have the energy to really go all in with it.
The extra stress from my Hubby's unemployment status isn't helping, and I've been dealing with some sadness and depression and worry the last few days, as well. I am trying to keep my head and realize it's all temporary, and it's partly preggo hormones, and that everything will be OK. But it just sucks to have your whole life, schedule, plans, and finances turned upside in the third trimester, right before the holidays, you know?
Anyway, we're good. I have a doctor appointment this morning which hopefully won't take too long, because I have homework to do this afternoon!

30 Week Ultrasound
So my ultrasound Tuesday went well. The doctor wanted to check for growth, and we sure had some! Baby Alex is weighing in a little over 4 lbs already and is already head down, in position for takeoff, LOL! Everything else looks good, and I am SO ready to meet him and count fingers and toes and see if he's going to look like either one of his brothers or be his own cute little individual self. Not to mention being ready for the backaches, front aches, heartburn, stuffy nose, shortness of breath, nausea, and sleepless nights to end, too. But one thing at a time, right?
Glad to report that everything looks good, and I'll let y'all know how my doctor appointment goes next week!

Better. And, An Old Bitty
So I'm feeling better and much less whiny today. Can we all say "Thank Goodness!" Sometimes, I can't even stand myself! LOL!
I'm feeling better because I got some decent sleep last night. Not really "good," mind you, but decent. Hubby kept my problem sleeper child (our younger boy) downstairs on the couch with him, so I wasn't getting awakened 3 or 4 times in addition to my every two hour potty break. PLUS, at my last appointment, the doctor said my iron was low, and I'm finally remembering to take the pills. So, maybe my whiny spell is over for good. Let's hope.
Other than that, there's nothing much to report, except that Baby Alex does NOT like me changing positions overnight. Everytime I roll over, he starts kicking! LOL! That must be really frustrating, if you think about it. You're all comfy in one spot and then someone randomly flips you over!
Unfortunately, it's getting to that uncomfortable to sleep stage now. Sleeping on my back actually hurts because my belly is too heavy. Sleeping on my front is a no go, for obvious, weeble-wobble reasons. So sleeping on my sides is my only option, and I have to put a pillow behind my back and under my belly for support! Yeesh! But it's only temporary, and the results will be worth it! I can hardly wait to meet our newest little guy, and can I reiterate - given teenage angst and hormones - how glad I am that he IS a BOY!!! LOL!
Oh, I have to tell y'all the funny that happened to me Sunday at work. I had finally worked up enough energy to hike to the McDonald's, which is all the way at the other end of the hospital. I was coming back and walking through our general peds floor on the way to my floor, and this random grandmother, who was visiting a patient, stopped me in the hallway and put her hand on my belly.
"Oh! You're having twins!! I know you must be so uncomfortable!"
"Well, no, he's just one really big boy!"
The shocked gasp and "Oh REALLY! Just one!" were enough to make me feel like I'm as huge as an elephant! Like I needed any reminder, right?
Then, as I was walking away, with my monthly chocolate shake in my hand, she pointed to it and said, "Well, you know, that has a LOT of sugar in it!"
And as I hastily began trotting to the elevator to escape, I just smiled and said, "Well, I guess I'll just have to work it off!"
I mean.
REALLY?
Total stranger, y'all. TOTAL. And within the course of about a minute and a half, she made me feel like I was huge, and the reason I'm huge is because I choose to drink a McDonald's milkshake, and I must be horrible mother because I clearly don't pay attention to what I feed my baby!!
Honestly. I just had to go upstairs and share the experience with my coworkers and just laugh about it. That is really the only time I've ever actually had a stranger share unsolicited opinions or advice in any of my pregnancies. It's a good thing I wasn't in the mood I was in yesterday, or I might've actually called her the ugly name I was thinking in my head! LOL!

Moody, Tired, and Hopeful
So I'm pretty sure I have some raging preggo hormones going on lately. I know this is shocking to you all. Actually, I consider myself to be fairly level headed, even pregnant, most of the time. However, due to whatever, I find myself more easily irritated, angered, and even sad lately. I know it's just pregnancy, and it's normal, but when I take my moods out on my family, especially my kids, I know it's time to snatch a knot in my own butt and knock it off!
I'm so very tired. I had a coworker yesterday ask me if we were ready for Baby Alex's arrival. I said yes and no and talked about needing to still get the nursery set up, boil the breast pump parts, and buy some onesies with footies. She asked me, "Do you have everything you need? What do you need?" I said we were good except for probably the onesies, diapers, and wipes. And she said, "Well, what about bottles?"
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{crickets chirping}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Oh yeah. Probably bottles, right? LOL! I had totally forgotten baby bottles, and probably a million other things. And I'm so tired, I probably would've continued to forget them right up until my hubby or sister volunteered to feed the baby for me...
Yeesh. Tired. And forgetful. And can I just say that the pregnancy clumsiness can take a hike? I am dropping EVERYTHING, ALL the time. And I just hate that! Especially at the hospital when you don't know what all is crawling on that floor!
Anyway, Baby Alex is kicking away, and I go for another ultrasound tomorrow at 3:15. I hope everything looks good. For today, I have a few household chores that absolutely must be done, then I'm going to rest and hope I sleep better tonight than I did last night.

Peeing and Braxton Hicks, and Cool Coworkers
Ugh. So the peeing has hit the ridiculous level again and is only going to get worse over the next few weeks. It's not exactly every 5 minutes yet, but it's probably every 30, and if I get up and walk around, it's even more often than that.
Joy.
The Braxton Hicks contractions are also getting a bit ridiculous. I was nearly hurting with them by the time I left work Wednesday evening. The 12 hour shifts don't help, and I plan to do a whole lot more sitting around with my feet up at home over the next several weeks. If you come for a visit, don't expect a spotless house, LOL! My daughter is helping out a lot in keeping things done, so I'm thankful for that.
We had one girl at work who is due a few days before me that ended up on bedrest this week due to some pain and cramping. The daughter of another coworker had to have an emergency C section yesterday. I don't know why, but she was probably a few weeks ahead of me, so I'm hoping the baby is OK. Given all that, I'll take peeing and fatigue and a tight belly, right? Let's stay in there and bake a few more weeks, OK, Baby Alex?
The boys have now gotten into the nightly habit of hugging and kissing Baby Alex good night. It's the cutest thing ever. And, of course, the baby's room still isn't ready. BUT - in some really awesome news, my coworker was telling me this week that they are planning a shower for us, and instead of everyone giving gifts, they want to take up a donation to help us get the car seat/stroller set that we want! Wouldn't that be awesome! I told her we certainly weren't expecting that, and we'd be grateful for anything they did. But it sure would be very cool to go ahead and get that, which is basically the only "big" thing we really need.
Don't I have the coolest coworkers?
Anyway, I didn't sleep well last night, so I might try to lie down and take a nap before I have to pick up the boys. I really need to stay healthy and as rested as possible. I know what's coming, LOL!

Eager and Antsy
So I'm getting antsy about meeting Baby Alex. And I think I'm having a bit of nesting, although not the type where I'm frantically cleaning the grout in the bathroom or anything. The kind where I want to try new Pinterest recipes and DIY Christmas gift ideas. I'm feeling fairly energetic today, thanks to a decent night's sleep, and I've been pinning away on Pinterest! After lunch, the boys and I will maybe have "school time," which they've been asking for. I figure while this baby is letting me feel good, we might as well do some fun things.
As usual, Baby Alex loves to kick me in the middle of the night. He was kicking when I woke up this morning, too. I like to just lie there with my hand on my tummy and feel him kicking around. He is not my spicy baby, like my oldest boy was. I could eat hot wings all day when I was pregnant with Little Man, but not with Baby Alex. He gives me terrible heartburn if I even look at hot wings! Little Man LOVES hot wing now, though. And Big Boy LOVES mexican food, which is what I constantly craved with him. I think we single handedly kept our local mexican restaurant in business when I was pregnant with Big Boy. Baby Alex likes green olives and triscuits with cheese and BLT sandwiches. Maybe he'll be my bacon baby!!
Anyway, I'm eager to see what he looks like and count his fingers and toes and see if he'll be anything like his big brothers or completely his own person. I hope he gets Little Man's beautiful eyes and hair and Big Boy's laid back personality. Heaven help us if he gets Little Man's whirlwind personality! LOL!
Anyway. I rescheduled yesterday's 5:00 ultrasound to next week. I forgot my hubby had class last night, and I didn't want to leave the kids here with my daughter, knowing they were running an hour behind for our last ultrasound appointment. I also didn't want to burden my Dad with coming over, since he watches them for our Tuesday night class anyway, and he'll have them tomorrow and Thursday afternoons. So, it'll be 3:30 next Tuesday. At least then, my dad can just come over and stay for dinner and class. I'm still not clear on why I need another ultrasound anyway, unless it's an "advanced maternal age" thing. I didn't get this many with the first two, and the doctor keeps telling me they look "fine."
Oh, and I passed my glucose test last week! Yay!! Sure didn't have time for that 3 hour one!!
Well, Baby Alex is hungry, and so am I. Better feed the little alien a snack!

Squished Lungs, BABY BUYS, and Diapers!
So, I'm supposedly 29 weeks, 4 days along, although it's beginning to feel like 39...although I have no idea what 39 actually feels like because I've never actually made it to 39 weeks. If this kid comes at 36, we've got what - 8 weeks left? Is that even possible???
I'm definitely hitting my 30 weeks "start taking it easy and resting up" stretch. I think modern medicine has made childbirth seem almost like a lark, just like - go to the hospital, get your epidural, push out baby, go home and get on with life. I think the toll that it takes on a woman's body, and the fact that the body must literally heal, inside and out, from the ordeal, gets lost in our culture. I know I was VERY guilty of trying to do too much, too fast when the boys were born. It's like American women are just expected to get up and fix dinner after giving birth. I'm so glad my sister is going to be here to help me this time. I'm so blessed. Hubby's folks have been here with the last two, as were my folks and sister, and I was so glad to have all the extra "hands on deck," so to speak. But having a bunch of people in the house just after having a baby can be a bit stressful in itself, so I'm glad we're going a bit simpler this time.
Although, of course, I wish my Mama could've been here. I think it's going to be tough bringing Baby Alex home without her this time.
Anyway, work was OK these past couple days, but these 12 hour stretches are getting tough. I'm good for the first 8 or 9, but after that, this kid balls up in a tight ball high up in my belly, and my back starts hurting. It's getting difficult to breathe because my lungs are all squished. I have a few more weeks to go before he starts dropping into my pelvis and releases my internal organs! LOL!
Oh, I bought my first real baby buy yesterday. Instead of purchasing a swing and a bassinet (both of which we sold in our yard sale, boohoo), we opted for one of those newborn sleepers that we can more easily carry between upstairs and downstairs, until Baby Alex is big enough for his crib. Check it out:
http://www.target.com/p/fisher-price-newborn-rock-n-play-sleeper/-/A-15263603#prodSlot=_1_4
It's the one with the lion on it. You might have to click under the colors. Hubby said it was ugly, but I said it's on sale, and I can get free shipping, so we have a winner! LOL! That saves us quite a chunk on other useless baby gear.
Now, all I really need is a car seat, and we're all set. I let Daughter, her friend, and the boys pick out Baby A's going home outfits, so those are hanging on the front of my closet, waiting for me to pack my hospital bag. (We had to get two, of course, because the girls and the boys couldn't agree, LOL.)
Folks at work keep saying something about a baby shower, but I don't think anyone has actually planned one yet. I keep telling them that I'm probably going to go early. We really don't have 12 weeks left... LOL! It'll be like when my oldest boy was born, and I had him the day before my baby shower!! That was not cool, LOL!
Anyway, if they do have one for us, it'll be really nice. I have the sweetest coworkers. If they don't, that's OK, too. We really don't *need* much of anything. It's funny how, by the third kid, you figure out all the stuff you don't really need! I even have a whole bag of (admittedly pink Minnie Mouse) newborn diapers that a coworker gave me. She had her baby in February, and they gave her a diaper shower, so she says any diapers her baby outgrows that they have leftover, she'll bring to me.
SCORE!!!

Glucose testing and Lotsa Peeing!
Well I have my one hour glucose test tomorrow morning at the doctor's office. I am trying to stay away sugar and sweets today. I passed this test with my first son, but I failed it with my second and had to go back for that 3 hour deal, which sucked. So I am very interested in passing this test tomorrow. Mama ain't got time to spend 3 hours at the doctor's office! Other than that, things are good! I'm still getting pummeled from the inside long about 3:00 every morning. I'm officially starting my 3rd trimester today, and - right on time - I'm peeing like a champ, all the time! I'm getting more and more eager to meet Baby Alex, and more and more eager for him to be outside my body rather than in. Sleep is getting interesting, and my hormones have my mood all over the place. (Sorry to everyone within a 2 mile radius.) But we have a little ways to go. If it passes as quickly as the first two trimesters passed, this little guy will be here before we know it. I'm praying for a healthy baby and a safe delivery.
