So...Bunny's pregnancy is definitely much different than Baby's was. For one thing, at this point during my first pregnancy, I was headlong into bouts with random, intermittent nausea and food aversions, and feeling like I'd been run over by a semi most of the time.
This time around, the nausea has been sparse, brief, and altogether manageable, with zero food aversions. So far. While I still feel like I've been hit by a semi, I've felt that way for months now. Plus, I'm sick, so I'm not sure if it's pregnancy fatigue or just normal, everyday, full-time-working-wife-&-mommy fatigue.
Like I told hubby last night, if I hadn't missed my period, I'd not even know I was pregnant. Of course, although I am by no means complaining about getting an easier go so far, it is a little on the worrisome side, too. I am eager to see our first ultrasound on Friday morning and be reassured that everything is OK in Bunny World.
Nothing like some mommy paranoia to get this week off to a rip roaring start!

Banality
So far, nothing new to report. Surprisingly, morning sickness hasn't really set in yet with this pregnancy. I will be 7 weeks tomorrow. Looking back in my blog, I see that I was about 5 1/2 - 6 weeks along with Baby when the morning sickness hit last time. Time will tell if I will be spared the worst of it, or if the other shoe is about to drop.
So far, the hardest thing to deal with has been this cold I caught from Baby, which refuses go away. Since there are very few things I can take to relieve the symptoms, and none of them seem to be working too well, I will suffer with it until it runs its course. I sincerely hope this will be the last one I have to deal with, but with 32 more weeks to go, I doubt it will be.
So far, so good. I'm looking forward to next Friday's first ultrasound!

Citgo, Shell, Exxon....Are We Seeing A Pattern Here?
Because....I'm gassy.
VERY gassy.
Gassy enough to apologize in advance to my husband and daughter for the noxiousness they will likely imbibe when confined to a moving vehicle with me for 9 hours on Friday.
I was not this gassy this early last time. Oh, and poop. I distinctly remember being distinctly constipated about this time last time around. Not so this time. I must go 2 or 3 times a day. Perhaps it's my Fiber One bars intake. Perhaps it's all the water I guzzle at work. Perhaps it's just my luck.
Conversely, however, that lovely, painful, internal hemorrhoid that I thought had healed up, oh, about 4 years ago, has reopened. I'm guessing because of all the increased blood flow everywhere? Because I certainly haven't had to strain to poo. It wasn't a problem last time, either. I'm hoping that isn't a harbinger of hemorrhoidal issues to come.
Oh, and I'm still having the headaches when I stand up. However, I'm going to my primary dr. this afternoon (for Baby's appt), and I'll ask her about that while I'm there.
So far, the nausea hasn't been anything I can't handle. Still hoping the onslaught holds off for at least another week or so.

It's A'Comin'
More and more nausea. Still not debilitating (yet), but it's there. I woke up at 3:00 this morning with it. Thankfully, it passed with a couple of tums and some water, but for a minute or two, I was convinced I was going to have to bow before the porcelain queen.
Oh well, it'll be worth it when Bunny gets here!

Oh, Nausea, How Do I Love Thee?
Not even a little bit...
My morning sickness returned yesterday morning, along with the beginnings of my well remembered first trimester fatigue. Reading back through my blog, I saw that it was just about this same time with Baby's pregnancy that I began to get morning sickness.
So far, it has been fairly mild and has disappeared altogether about mid morning, only to reappear sometime after dinner. But if things are the same this time, it will get worse before it gets better.
However, other women have it a lot worse. I only threw up 2 or 3 times with Baby's pregnancy, and I will count myself lucky if I have similar statistics this time.
I'm trying to eat a good breakfast (read: ground beef with onions and potatoes both Sat. and Sun. mornings). I am trying to stay hydrated with water, although I did break down and drink some sweet tea last night. Ahhh, heaven! As long as I don't get too hungry or thirsty, I think I'll be fine.
(As long as I don't get Baby's newest cold, I'll be even more fine.)
Other than that, things are good along the pregnancy front. Little bunny is growing, and I'm already at the point that it's uncomfortable sleeping on my back. Of course, I look like I'm 6 months along, rather than not even 6 weeks, but I don't let that bother me too much. As long as I don't outgrow my fat pants, I think we'll be fine!

Just A Little Bit
I'm getting very mild, intermittent nausea nowadays. I know it's bound to get worse, so I'm enjoying the calm before the storm.
I don't remember much about this time period with Baby. I was probably still in a daze and letting it all sink in. I officially discovered I was pregnant again one week ago last night. I wasn't surprised, but I was momentarily stunned. At least I haven't felt compelled to take seven pregnancy tests this time, just to make sure it didn't "go away." Only two! :)
The miraculousness of it all hasn't diminished with my second child. I still find the whole process amazing, and, as this may very well be my last pregnancy (if it's a girl), I want to enjoy it much more. I want to take each day slowly and wonder in the life growing inside me. I don't want to just rush through it, simply to get it done, even though I know there are days ahead which will try my patience.
I hope to continue to feel good until the end of the month, so I can enjoy our Thanksgiving holiday up in IL with my family. Here's hoping!

Getting Tired
I can feel myself getting more tired in the last day or so. I figure it's a combination of Baby being off schedule overnight and getting up to pee every two hours. Big fun!
I have already signed up for the breastfeeding class offered at the local hospital for their May class. It's free, and I sure do need the information. It would be wonderful if I could breastfeed Bunny like I couldn't Baby. I would be so happy. Not to mention, it would be sooo much cheaper. We are spending $70-$80 per week on formula for Baby right now. Ouch! His first birthday can't get here fast enough, then it's goodbye formula and hello milk!!!
I also signed up for the Infant CPR class, which we missed last time due to a scheduling conflict. However, in order to take it, I have to take the childbirth "refresher" course. I gotta tell you, it's still pretty "fresh" for me...should be interesting to take the course after already going through it once. I'm sure my perspective will be totally different.
I still want to try this birth without any meds. I caved last time and got an epidural when I really didn't want one. I was too tired and in too much pain to say no when the anesthesiologist appeared next to my bed to ask if I was ready for it. I had asked the nurse to get my line ready, in case I wanted one later. I guess she interpreted that as me asking for it, so she went ahead and called the doctor in. This time, hopefully it will work out differently.
That isn't to say, though, that I won't ask for meds if I become too overwhelmed with pain. But since I know much more about the pain this time, I *think* I can handle it.
We shall see.
Fridays are my "turning days" in my baby calendar, so this Friday, I will be at 5 weeks. I am already excited to meet this new little one. I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl!

GRRR!
Unfortunately, my hormones this time around are making me grouchier than last time. Probably that, combined with being sleep deprived and under-appreciated at home. I really need to talk to my husband about that one of these days...
Anyway, I'm getting a bit of nausea and tummy issues this morning, but nothing much. I'm sure that will all change in a couple of weeks.
I'm still trying to eat well. I splurged Saturday night and ate some frozen pizza, but up til then, I've been doing really well with the lean meats, vegetables and salads, as well as staying away from caffeine, sugar, salt and soda.
Whew! It's a big job!
I am bloated, and I'm already starting to look pregnant, especially since I'm much fatter to start with this time around. Thank goodness I hadn't put up my maternity clothes yet.
I informed my boss about it this morning, along with my plan to have the office covered while I'm out. She took it pretty well.
This week, Bunny is starting to look like a little tadpole. I can hardly wait to go to my first dr. appt. I can't wait to see our first ultrasound. (Yes, we are going to find out the sex this time.)
We informed the parents and the internet (Facebook) over the weekend. So far, everyone has been really supportive. They all think we're crazy, no doubt.
Perhaps we are.

Still Feeling Good
I guess I am officially 4 weeks pregnant today, if you count using the start of my last period. Only 36 more to go, right?
We informed our parents last night of our good news. Neither set was especially thrilled, but that's OK. We're sure once our new arrival arrives, they will change their tunes.
The important thing is, we are thrilled. Daughter is thrilled. Baby has no clue what's going on, so I guess he's thrilled. LOL!
I'm still feeling good. One thing I've read all over is that every pregnancy is different, so I can't expect things to be the same with Bunny as they were with Baby. However, Baby is the only yardstick I have to judge by, so I am naturally making comparisons.
I was up several times last night to pee. I don't feel any tireder today than usual, though, so perhaps you do get used to being sleep deprived. It was nice, though, that my mother in law handled Baby this morning when he woke up at 5:30. I tried rocking him back to sleep, but she was already up, making noise, with lights on, so he wasn't having any of that. I just made him a bottle, handed him to her, and went back to bed.
I'm having some mild cramping this morning, which is normal. It may be a growing Bunny, or it may be the eggs, bacon, and fried potatoes my mother in law made for breakfast! Yum!
For those of you just joining us, my EDD is 7/16/10, but I'm hoping Bunny will come a day early as a birthday present for my mom. I'm also hoping that my mom can be there in the delivery room with me this time. I told her last night that they might as well come on down about mid-June and wait it out, just in case!

Second Time Around
As y'all know, I will soon be 35 years old. Hubby will soon be 40. We knew when we got married that we wanted at least two kids of our own, hopefully a boy and a girl.
Well, we got our boy earlier this year! Baby was born in January and has just passed his 9 month birthaversary. Since we don't have the luxury of waiting 2 or 3 years between each child, and I really don't want to be having kids in my 40s, welcome to my Baby Blog for the second time around!
Yup! We've gone and gotten ourselves pregnant again! As I type this, I am (by my calculations) app 4 weeks and 2 days along. We went off the pill in September, and it didn't take us long to hit the jackpot.
The purpose of this blog is, in Amalah fashion, to compare and contrast my second pregnancy with my first. As well, of course, to keep everyone updated on my pregnancy and the babies and anything else my pregnant mind might want to ramble on about. I thought this would be a nice place to send folks who are solely interested in my pregnancy, rather than reading all the mindless drivel on my personal blog.
This blog, too, will be anonymous. I'm debating about whether or not to keep it private, too, as I do with my personal blog. I guess I'll decide as I go along.
So, what, so far, is different about this pregnancy?
Well, for one thing, I had absolutely no spotting or warning this time that I was pregnant. With Baby, I spotted and cramped for several days prior to when my period was due, but the day my period was due, it stopped. I took the test the next morning, and it was positive.
With this baby (herein to be known as "Bunny"), I had no spotting, cramping, or anything. I just knew what day I was supposed to get my period (which was this past Tuesday). When I hadn't seen any signs of it by that night, I took a test. I really didn't expect a positive result, because it was just the day I was supposed to get my period, but that second line popped right up within seconds! I guess I must just be a fertile gal!
Similarly to my first pregnancy, though, is the peeing. I am already peeing a lot. I was up 4 times last night, just to pee. I really didn't miss this, and I'll be glad for the second trimester to come around, so I can get some relief from it. Just as I get Baby sleeping through the night, now I have to get up and pee all the time...just my luck!
Oh, and a funny pregnancy brain flub: this morning, I was packing Baby's bag. I put both his bottles in there, then went running around doing other things. Getting his food, making sure Daughter was ready to go, taking our stuff out to the car. When I got back in the house and checked to be sure his bag had everything he needed, I pulled out one of the bottles. Thinking it was a leftover bottle from last night that I didn't realize the daycare had left in there, I poured it right down the drain. Then, I got to daycare and only had one bottle for him!
Geez - if pregnancy brain is starting now, we're in trouble!
I guess that's about all for today. We are hoping for a girl this time. If we get one, we already have her name picked out. We're due sometime in mid-July 2010. Hubby is giddy. Daughter is bubbly. I'm excited, too, mainly because I know the ropes better this time, and I plan to enjoy this pregnancy much more. Oh, and eat and exercise better. That is a MUST, since I weigh about 25 lbs more to start this pregnancy than I did with my first.
