Smells

Holy cow, but I am having smell aversions this time around. I did not have this with Baby.

Eggs? Makes me queasy
Ground beef cooking? Makes me gag
My baby's formula? Nearly sent me to the porcelain goddess

I had been telling Hubby for a few days that there was a terrible smell in the refrigerator in the garage. (We have 3 fridges. Yes, I know. One in the kitchen, obviously, one in the garage for drinks and such, and the other in the garage for my hubby's um....ethnic foods.) (Read: stinky stuff)

The Korean Food Fridge smelled horrible. Much, much worse than normal. Like something had died in there. I kept telling Hubby, but he kept ignoring me (nothing unusual there, Oh? is that an NCIS rerun, I hear? What, Honey, what were you saying about the fridge?)

Anyway...I thought there was a dead rat in the garage. Then, my mother in law brought some of that stuff in the house over the weekend and started cooking it. Turns out, she had brought some sort of OYSTER Kimchi (Kimchi is just Korean for "pickled," or, as I like to call it, "rotten") and left it in our fridge last time they were here. When she started cooking that stuff, I just about barfed all over the living room.

I mean, regular cabbage Kimchi smells awful (think stinky feet or sulfur), but it tastes good. Onion Kimchi I really like. But OYSTER KIMCHI??? In my FRIDGE??? For WEEKS???

Holy cow, I ran around the house gagging and opening doors and windows. I had to go stand over the toilet for a few minutes. Of course, as soon as she heard the commotion, she took the offending nastiness outside, and the smell finally dissipated.

But geez Louise - I think the woman is just trying to kill me. I'm sure even little Bunny in there was turning her nose up at that stench!!

So yeah, having to watch my smells now. But again, it's not so bad. I'll take it and say thank you, because overall, I feel really good. (When I don't have a cold.)

Still doing good! I will be hitting 12 weeks on Friday. Officially starting my second trimester on Saturday. Turning 35 on Sunday. Who woulda thunk it?

I have my next OB appointment Jan 6th. So far, I'm just tired. I don't sleep well, because I still wake up to pee a lot at night. (Plus, you know, having the 11 month old to deal with.) My appetite is good. I love anything with potatoes.

My mother in law is convinced this baby will be a boy, too. Heaven help us!

Other than that, nothing much to report on the preggo front except I'm looking forward to having my baby and seeing how different Bunny will be compared to Baby! Oh, and you can definitely tell I'm pregnant now...not just fat. Which is nice.

Ahhh, the Return I Was Hoping Against

For today's TMI post, let's talk about constipation. I am approaching 11 weeks of pregnancy, and it is now that the first trimester bowel maladies are beginning to set in.

Goody, goody.

I am, of course, upping my water intake. Attempting to eat higher fiber foods. Etc, Etc, Etc. We'll see how it goes.

Other than that, everything in mommy to be land is hunky dory. I'm tired as all get out, but I'm used to that. No biggie.

Can hardly wait for week 20, when we can find out if we're having a girl or a boy!!

Becoming Sizeable

So, I'm showing already. I look like I'm 6 months along rather than 10 weeks along. Of course, the point could be made that I looked like this before the positive pee stick, but I choose to forget that point.

I gained exactly 25 lbs in my first pregnancy. I was not a lightweight when I started, but I did manage to lose 21 of those lbs after Baby was born.

Then, I was a new mother, I was exhausted, I returned to work part time, and I regained about 15 of those lbs. Then, I returned to work full time, I was STILL exhausted, and I had zero time for cooking, so I regained the additional 6 lbs and a few more to boot on top of it.

And then, I got pregnant again.

At this rate, I will need to widen the doors in my house within the next two months, or be confined to the living room as a wide load until Bunny arrives.

Zippo

Still virtually zilch-o on the pregnancy symptoms. Perhaps my body is just too busy to register the difference. I'll take it. We will be 10 weeks tomorrow, just two weeks away from the end of the first trimester (already!). Still, July is a looonnnngggg way away.

Oh, I have lost one of the more annoying symptoms: my gassiness has eased up a lot, much to the relief of those around me.

It's not that I'm ambivalent about this pregnancy. It's just that it's still hard to believe I am pregnant because it's been so easy so far. I haven't felt any movement yet (too early), and I'm so busy doing everything else. I just don't have time to obsess over it like I did last time.

Rest assured, however, that Bunny will be just as loved and just as much of a delight as Baby is. (S)he is just getting a late start in the obsessing department!

Nearly Nine Weeks?

Gosh, when did I hit 9 weeks pregnant? According to my widget up top there, I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow. (It's actually off a day, and I'll be 9 weeks on Friday, but still.)

I guess because this first trimester is so much better than my first pregnancy, time seems to be going by faster. Last time around, I was miserably rooting for week 13, the magical end of my first trimester misery. This time, I hardly even know I'm pregnant.

I still have quite a long way to go. I'm at the point where I want to have this baby, if only to get the first 4 or 5 months of sheer exhaustion out of the way and get on with life. But, you can't rush time, and I'm sure things will become more "eventful" as we go along.

My next appointment is in three weeks. They have offered to set an appointment for genetic testing again, which we had done with Baby. However, as it cost me $300 last time around, and I'm fairly certain we don't have any genetic issues to be concerned with, I probably won't do the blood screening or the Down syndrome test this time.

We are, however, mucho-excited to find out Bunny's sex this time. We have to wait about 10 more weeks, though. Sure do hope to get a girl.

Loogies

Hocking up a loogie now causes me to nearly throw up, which is annoying, since I'm still dealing with this daggum cold that I've had for almost three weeks. All things considered, though, if that's the worst I have to deal with, I'll take it.

Minty Fresh

I am back to the joy of making sure I take my pills and such after brushing my teeth in the mornings. Brushing my teeth causes me to gag and/or throw up. I remember this from the last time around, although it didn't set in until much later.

I'm still finding it difficult to believe there's another baby in here. What with the lack of symptoms and all. Last night, I did get to the point of sheer exhaustion, but that was likely as much because of my nearly constant state of exhaustion as it was due to the pregnancy. Alas, I still didn't go to bed as early as I should have.

My doctor gave me some pretty strict instructions regarding diet on Friday, so I will be working hard this week to get our eating plan back on track. It has suffered lately with our vacation and subsequent running around.

So far, Bunny is treating me really good. I'm beginning to think it's the calm before the storm, and she (or he) will be a real hellion when (s)he arrives!

We Have Liftoff

The dr. appt. went well this morning. The baby is measuring right on target at 8 weeks and has a nice, strong heartbeat. I really like my OB. She's personable, thorough, and she doesn't rush you through the appointments. She's someone I wouldn't mind working for.

The official due date is July 16, 2010. Any bets on if this one will come early or stay late? LOL!

Nervous

The doctor's appt. is scheduled for 11:00 this morning. I'm nervous about it, just because I've had so few pregnancy symptoms so far. I will post out here as soon as I get back and let everyone know how it went.

Oh, Flatulence, How Do I Love Thee?

I'm discovering with this pregnancy that it is possible to be gassy, all the time, anytime, regardless of what may or may not have been ingested prior to the, uh - shall we call it - "outburst."

A few minutes ago, while at my desk, I realized I needed to visit the loo. When I stood up, I realized that this pressing need was going to be a noisy one, so I tried to stay in my office until the urge passed, before walking down the hall and through the foyer on my way to the bathroom. After all, I was quite certain that neither my boss, who was in the hallway, nor the receptionist, wanted to know the status of my bowels.

Unfortunately, these little urges tend to sneak out whenever they want, even though I'm shuffling like a duck while trying to squeeze my butt cheeks together to hold it all in.

I was unsuccessful.

I just announced my intent to visit the restroom to anyone and everyone within hearing distance between my office and the front door. Why, oh why couldn't SOMEONE have been printing SOMETHING, anything, on one of these old dinosaur dot matrix printers while I was walking by, so I could mask my noisy departure?

Still Nothing

Moving right along. Hungry as a bear. Not really peeing much more than normal. No sickness. Same ole, same ole in the fatigue department.

Thankful for the break and eager for Friday's ultrasound. I'll feel so much better to see a strong heartbeat in there.
